Alpha blocker prescribed Down at our health centre, young doctors come and go. It is a training centre for The University of Sheffield Medical School. They stay for three months and then they are off to their next position - perhaps in orthopaedics or coronary care or geriatrics. When you are a young doctor you never stop learning. Since it was discovered that I have high blood pressure, I have seen four of these doctors - all women. I heard today on BBC Radio 4 that the number of women doctors working in the NHS now matches the number of  male doctors. It represents quite a turnaround and an achievement that our country should recognise with pride. They still haven't been able to get my blood pressure fully under control. I have taken different pills with different strengths and now I am adding doxasozin to my cocktail. I believe it is some sort of alpha blocker. Anyway, I hope it will have the desired result without too many side effects. All of this...

Granddaughters

Here they are again - our lovely girls. We look after Margot every Wednesday. She is sixteen months old now, striding around like a little cowgirl who has just clambered off her horse. What a strong little character she is - often verbalising at full volume. It is as if she has invented her own unique language and appears puzzled that nobody else quite understands it. She can eat for England - her mouth widening into a circle where she expects food to enter forthwith. Today it was World Book Day and Margot dressed as Little Miss Sunshine for her day at nursery school. You should have seen her all in yellow. What a little darling! On Thursdays, we look after Phoebe all day. This morning we took her down to Millhouses Park so she could ride her little bicycle along the flat paths there. She is four years and two months old now and like her little sister, she has a strong, determined character. After expending energy in the children's playground and upon her bicycle, we too...

love

With not feeling well, I’m realizing a few things.  I must slow down. I’m not in a race, and the moment I get in one is the moment I’ve lost. Right now, the most productive I can be is to sit in my recliner as I type. One day of activity results in one day of rest. My body is not normal. I’m not normal.  Learning to listen is key to growth. I’m having to do the hard work of surrendering my will. God knows what I want. I let Him know everyday. What I need is a holy pause.  If this post doesn’t make sense I’m sorry.  Sometimes the thoughts flow. They ramble at times. Perfection would dictate that I not post this. In my desire to be authentic, I will post this.  So right now, to get my travel fix, I watch the Amazing Race. To get my need to escape, I read. In my need to not be anxious, I pray, and I just let anxiety be.  I love you all.  Love yourself and one another from R's rue https://ift.tt/2Iq8kxC

Keir

صورة
Sir Keir Starmer, Britain's current prime-minister and the proud leader of our Labour Party was born into a working class family in  1962.  Auspiciously, he was named after Keir Hardie, the first  parliamentary leader of the Labour Party (1906-1908). Sir Keir married Victoria Alexander in 2007  and they have two teenage children who have been effectively kept away from the often crazed glare of modern publicity. The Labour Party were voted back into power last summer. In the three years before that election, Sir Keir had done a great job of remodelling the party - rooting out the excesses of left wing extremism to make the party electable once again. Once a very successful lawyer, he became our country's Director of Public Prosecutions in 2008. In that role, he had many thorny legal cases to handle - including dealing with terrorists from Northern Ireland and elsewhere. In this job, he proved himself to be a great team leader and a dedicated public se...
