In 1991 more than 1700 yellow umbrellas were installed along the Grapevine in California (the Grapevine is kind of a mountain pass, a part of the I-5 freeway and well known for accidents, snow delays, etc..in Southern California.

I saw this recently on a digital Magazine I really like reading every day as it posts several articles of interest and I learn something every day from them - California Sun
I saw this article and thought it would be nice to share it here on the blog - I love the image and wish I could have seen it in person. We rarely, hardly ever traveled through the Grapevine in the 90's. It wasn't until my oldest son moved to San Francisco that we became semi-annual travelers up the grapevine (5 freeway) to go to their house.
