My first day shift in nearly four months starts in two hours. I didn’t sleep and was awake just after 3am and 5 am At half five I took the girls and Albert for a walk in the frost A group of four badgers were spinning in the lane outside Trendy Carol’s and for a moment at each ends of the dark lane  we faced each other off before the badgers scattered like fat leaves...Mary yapped and Albert arched golden eyed as they fled. Dorothy hugged my calf, frightened as always minutes after the encounter. I settled the animals down on the kitchen reading chair as I made my breakfast, and even Albert was nearby rubbing his face on the chair back. During this pandemic a new British hero has emerged. His name is Marcus Rashford. He is a very talented twenty three year old footballer who plays for both Manchester United and England. Marcus is now a very wealthy young man but he was born into poverty in Wythenshawe - a tough Manchester suburb. His father disappeared when Marcus was young leaving his mother to struggle in low paid jobs to pay the bills and put food on the family table. There were times when he went hungry. Times when his mother didn't even have enough money to buy a loaf of bread. Many young footballers wallow in their wealth - buying fancy cars and the kind of flash homes you will usually only see in lifestyle magazines. They seem to forget where they came from but you cannot say that of Marcus Rashford. He has not forgotten his tough start in life and the deprived, mostly white, community in which he grew up.  Writing is  much like making spaghetti sauce yesterday I cried While chopping onions sautéed them watching them turn brown and soften then i had to brown meat thoroughly and completely  then came  the sauce the bright richness of aroma coming together in color and consistency and all  I could feel was relief and pride  upon completion the task seemed untenable in the beginning but at  the end i tasted satisfaction A sweet delight from R's rue https://ift.tt/3nYGiVf
