After the snow once our roads are plowed I love to get out and walk. The houses around where I live are a mix of old and somewhat new structures but I find the odd and old little cabins the most attractive in the snow. Snow makes everything old look new and clean and there is a freshness in the air you can smell mixed with the smell of wood being burned in fireplaces.
Some of my neighbors use a good smelling wood to burn and once in awhile someone uses wood that gives me a headache. I think, but I don't know for sure, that when I am enjoying the smell of woodsmoke it is from Cedar Incense Trees. I'm still learning to identify various mountains trees - we have such a variety and eventually I'll know the names of all of them.
