Every day over at the Geograph website, a new image is picked to be "The Picture of The Day". That has been my honour on several occasions including today. I was pleased to note that a picture I took in January 2022 had been selected.

I remember that day pretty well. It was mild and sunny for the end of January and so I headed out  west of Sheffield to The Derwent Valley. I blogged about that walking excursion here.

This was the image I contributed to Geograph  though I didn't include it in the blogpost:-

As you can see, water from the reservoir behind the dam wall was overlapping it. To the left, waterboard workers were safely burning off unruly undergrowth - hence the smoke. I guess that when you are responsible for an invaluable water supply, it is vital that you maintain the edges of the reservoir as well as monitoring the water itself.

I thought that the swirling smoke in this image suggested that a cloud had fallen from the sky. The map of Great Britain and Ireland at the top shows you the location of this dam - right in the heart of the island of Britain.

Dove and betodine

A friend suggested praying surrender prayers.  For the first time, I’m considering it. For me surrendering is akin to acceptance. When I surrender, I accept that I no longer have the answers that I need or like. I talk a lot about both, but don’t do either well. This is not new. If you’ve followed long enough, you know. The irony is I surrender every day when I share each day. I surrender my need my need for perfection. I don’t know whether this or that post will hit or miss. I accept that each day may be a terrible or useless post. I leave my thoughts in this space up to His discernment whether I’ve realized it or not. The question is whether I’m bold enough to follow it up in real life. On that table Monday, I briefly in that moment when I happened to think the doctor was washing my stomach with Dove soap instead of betodine. It’s amazing what your mind will conjure up to calm your nerves. I only realized it thirty minutes later when in a dressing room i saw my stomach was sticky and orange. I was so disappointed to not be smelling so fresh and clean. I will say to any healthcare professionals, don’t ask me if I’m ready.  I’m never ready. I will say this NP never told me a thing, and I appreciated it so much. Each appointment teaches me a new lesson. Love you all

Sushi

I am consistently amazed that such in innocuous blog such as Going Gently can rile some readers into such apoplexy and anger.
It baffles me, as does a comment from last night which admitted that my blog is bad for a certain reader’s mental health.
Gawd help us, if that’s the case, I hope that reader contacts MIND immediately before never reading Going Gently again.
There’s a lot to be said for self help.

Anyhow I went shopping today.
I’m not a big shopper, but I heard that a new sushi bar had opened up in the town of Mold which is located around 17 miles east of Trelawnyd, so I thought I’d treat myself.
Mold’s Welsh name is Yr Wyddgrug ( Mound in English) and it is a pretty market town overlooked by Theatre Clwyd which situated a mile or so out of town.
I was impressed with the bespoke shops as well as the sushi and as well as buying myself some Japanese tea, I bought some French bacon twists from a bone fide French baker, some books at in independent bookshop and some bespoke birthday cards from an art shop
