It's fourteen years since I wrote this account and forty two years since the main event happened. I could so easily have died that day but thankfully I didn't. When I first published this writing only three people commented. They were Robert Brague from Canton, Georgia, John Gray from Trelawnyd, Wales and Ian Rhodes from South Manchester. John and Robert are still active in the blogosphere but Ian appears to have hung up his blogging boots for good. Anyway, back to Greece. It was August, 1982... Koumbara (aka Sunset) Beach, Ios Once upon a Grecian isle... in the summer of 1982. First a flight to Athens and then a service bus down to the nearby port of Piraeus. It's where ferries embark for the islands - the Dodecanese, Crete, the Dardanelles, the Cyclades and the inner islands of Spetses, Hydra and Aegina.
