HELLO - BACK AND HOOKED UP AGAIN AFTER THREE POWER OUTAGES IN THIS LAST STORM

second photo down is my house but you can't see it, lol.  Everyone would go to Goodwins Market to charge their phones in the parking lot where they could get WiFi connection.

The amount of snow wasn't that bad - about 16" i think.  It was the ice that caused the outage.  The melt is going pretty good today and for the next week as temps rise.

The first outage was about 2 hours - not bad - we had our grandson Cayden up for several days  and we simply took it in stride and played games.  Then the next day it was a 5 hour outage (of course there is no way to know how long it will last)...  Once again we kept positive and even though it was dark and freezing (happened just after delicious pasta meal that Mike cooked) we got out the lanterns and played gin.  Then again the next day  power out and it went on and on and on (about 20 hours).

So several times we made it down our road which was icy and trucks with cinder to lay down on the road had never made it to our road.  We went slowly, got into town and the only place open was the grocery store running on a generator.  All of our town, approximately 11,000 was without power.  From what we can tell, a big transformer had been taken out by a huge tree falling on it and whether it is true or not, I read that they had to deliver the new one by helicopter ..i'm thinking someone made that up.

To sum up - the problem with these mountain towns here in So Cal - is they do not close the road to the general public after a huge storm and major outages so then any service trucks trying to get up whether power or tree trimmers etc...have to fight the crowds and wait in line for chain checks.

We have power, I am happy and the next storm coming in is suppose to bring a lighter amount of snow but Santa Ana winds.  i have not been in the mood to sketch or even blog since I got back on - I'm out of sorts, lol...my chi hasn't been chang'd yet - my energy level hasn't centered itself yet.  Too much drama on the mountain.

This photo  is what I love our mountains to look like and the bottom one is the one that makes me want to move to the desert or better yet to the coast (if house prices hasn't soared to unbelievable levels in California over the last few years).

I lived in Kansas as a kid and of course we got snow - it's a different experience in the mountains where there are a lot of micro climates and altitudes.

We moved to the lower mountain town altitude about 5000 in this mountain chain of towns so we wouldn't get a lot of snow but there has been two major snow events within the space of a month that has taken power out and brought trees down.  The first outage went on for six or seven days.     I'm a little worried that this is becoming the norm with climate change going on.    Anyway - ...  onward and upward.  I'll be visiting you all soon.

I put lots of photos on my main blog which here is the LINK if you want to see them - Top Town has some colorful buildings that look cute in snow.
